Technical WriterBirmingham£21k+What you will doAs a Technical Writer you will be the interface between ADT and the user, ensuring that the user fully understands the system or application in question and can, to some extent, troubleshoot problems without recourse to ADT/TYCO/JCI. How you will do itYou will do this by communicating concise technical messages to the end user and maintainers for the systems installed. Understand our key technologies and have the ability to, designing and write and maintain documentation using corporate and compiling manufacturer's standard literature into a clear flowing Operations and Maintenance Manual format. Producing information presented through a variety of media forms be them as instruction manuals, leaflets or CD-Rom.Your responsibilities will include:.Keep up to date with current developments in Information Technology and systems offered by ADT.Understanding the business systems and applications for which documentation is to be prepared.Planning and managing the authoring project workflow.Gathering and analysing the information needs of the users and maintainers of the system.Liaising with other ADT departments and suppliers to understand the technology to be described.Questioning internal departments and suppliers to clarify technical issues.Planning the order of the information, organising and designing the information effectively.Continual revisions of our document standards, styles and formats, which reflect the image of the employing and/or user organisation.Writing and presenting the information in clear, concise and base language format.Editing text to fit the standards, style and format agreed - either ADT or customers own..Commissioning, coordinating or preparing illustrations.Indexing and cataloguing material.Proof reading documentation to ensure that it matches the finished product.Copy-editing the work of other colleagues within the organisation.Producing copies of the produced manual in various formats - hard copy, CD, electronic etc..Publicising services and skills to potential clientsWhat we look for[Required Qualifications - Education, Skills & Experience].A-Level English Literature, PC literacy, Microsoft Office Suite, PDF.
