Optical Solutions Specialist (Pre-Sales)

Main Purpose of Job

Reporting to the head of product management, the Product Pre-Sales consultant will support the sales team to provide product and technical solution positioning within allocated accounts. As part of the product management team the consultant will drive requirements in order to enhance the telecommunications product portfolio. Successful candidates will have a full working knowledge of transport and data-networking standards in Next Generation Networks (WDM, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, PBB-TE and SDH) and will be commercially minded and customer facing.

Description of Tasks/Responsibilities:

·Day to day support to Business Units and other customer facing teams including presenting to our customers to provide detailed technical information to customers.
·Provide support for tender process and bids etc
·Capable of supporting dialogue with customers during pre-sales network design meetings up to and including OSI layer 1, Layer 2 and potentially Layer 3
·Expected to be a subject matter expert of the following design fields classified by :
oLayer 1 Access/Metro Transport and Aggregation for NGNs
oWDM technologies including ROADM and Photonic technologies
oEthernet transport and switching
·Understanding of Layer 3 switching and routing
·Network Management Solutions
·30%+ travel required


Essential Skills:
·Telecommunications industry experience specifically Telecoms Solution design .
·Knowledge and experience of some of the following technologies; PSTN, IP/Ethernet and SDH, DSL GPON, WiMAX, triple play services, IPVPN technologies, VOIP.
·PC Literate.


Background:

Ideally someone from service provider background but individual must at least have experience in an operator or telecoms equipment vendor.
