Capital Projects Manager

Rate: £ 41 to £ 48 K (full-time)

My client has agreed plans to invest over £130m in its buildings and facilities over the next 5 years, and is currently undertaking a programme of major capital development. This is an exciting time to join the newly formed Project Services Office which will play a significant role in delivering a comprehensive and challenging estates strategy.

You will lead the Project Services Office in all aspects of strategic development, ranging from the management of small improvements to complex construction projects. In this highly visible role, a key responsibility will be to manage a substantial capital and refurbishment programme, from initial concept to the supervision of construction, within defined timescales.

As a professionally qualified Surveyor, you will have extensive experience in construction project management in either the public or private sector, coupled with excellent contract administration skills. Experience of working with, and leading, multi-disciplinary design teams on technically complex construction projects, will be essential. You will be experienced in communicating with key stakeholders at all levels and have the drive to deliver projects to meet time, cost and quality requirements.

Qualifications /Training

· Educated to degree level or equivalent
· Qualified to Chartered Engineer or Surveyor level through membership or experience in a relevant discipline e.g. RICS, or CIOB

· Educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate construction discipline
Work Experience

· Experience of similar roles within the public or private sector in a customer focused environment
· Substantial practical experience of project management/construction management, construction design and administration skills and knowledge, within a construction environment
· Practical experience in, and a positive approach to, the delivery and management of change, for the benefit of agreed business objectives and to ensure the highest levels of customer service and care

Specialised Skills
· A practical understanding of the RIBA stages of project and programme development and delivery
· A practical understanding of construction procurement strategies and techniques
· A practical understanding of construction contracts and contract administration
· A practical understanding of risk analysis and risk management in construction projects
· A practical understanding of budget and cost control
· A high-level working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of applications, with particular skills in the use of Microsoft Project, AutoCad, and other project management software
